Just another day in paradise…

Wow! I had not realized how much I had neglected my blog! Has it really been 6 months since my last post?

Guess I will take a few minutes to update you on all that has been going on in our lives. Please be aware that this will be a very photo heavy blog post. I have a lot of photos to share!

In December Uncle Andrew (my husband’s brother) and his son, M, came to visit us. It was so nice to have them! We hung out, celebrated the holiday, and braced the cold to tour Philly. We also took the kids to the National Aquarium in Baltimore. It was so much fun! I hope that someday soon we will be closer to our family so the kids can spend more time with their cousins. I know that they would love that.

Here is a collage of Christmas photos. I was so happy to get a photo of each boy in front of the tree. In Christmas jammies, none the less. I just won’t tell you how long it was AFTER Christmas that I took them!

On the day after Christmas we took Uncle Andrew and M to see the Rocky stairs and Liberty Bell in Philadelphia. Although there was no snow, it was bitterly cold! We were all bundled up and did not last outside very long. But we had a lot of fun, and I got some great pictures! (I added the snow overlay on picmonkey.com. Couldn’t resist!)

Before the Uncle Andrew and M left, we took to Baltimore where we toured the National Aquarium and then had dinner at the Hard Rock, waiting for our table at the Barnes and Noble where T played with trains, which is one of his favorite things right now.

January brought Baby G’s first birthday. I can’t believe how fast he has grown! He learned how to walk, and is now running all over the place, and climbing up on everything. If he can figure out how to get into it, he will!

We were a bit delayed on celebrating his birthday but we got to have a nice birthday dinner at Red Lobster with the Read family. It was great to catch up with them and just celebrate Baby G’s life.

n February we embarked on a new adventure. We packed up (and allowed the movers to pack up) our house and began the long drive from Delaware to Mississippi. With three little ones, it took several days and lots of stopping. It included a stop by to play with cousins, I and J, and meet their Uncle Jeremiah (my brother) and Aunt Andrea (wish I had gotten pictures and that we could have stayed longer!). We took the longer route so that I could drive on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel which takes you from Delmarva to Virginia Beach. The boys got to play in numerous Chick Fil A playgrounds and even shut one down thanks to an unfortunate accident.

We went from this:

Brr! Just looking at that picture makes me cold!

To this:

Most of those pictures were taken at one park, on base, on the last day of February. The boys were all wearing lightweight long sleeve shirts but they probably would have been fine in short sleeves. Its humid here and summer will be HOT but it has been so nice not having coats to put on and take off all the time like we had in Delaware. The boys are just loving being able to play outside more often!

We are now in the process of just settling in. We have some unpacking still to do but for the most part we have unpacked what we plan to unpack since we are only going to be here for a short time before moving off to our next big adventure! Part of the fun of being part of the military is getting to go to unknown places at unknown times. Getting to explore the country and possibly even the world! Sure, it comes with stresses, and its hard to be away from family, but we are grateful that we are able to serve the country alongside my husband. He does the hardest job of serving our country through his day to day tasks, and gives of himself all the time. We simply stand behind him and support him. Something I am proud to be able to do.

But I digress.

We have already had the privilege of a visit from my good friend Krystal. It was so good to see her! The last time I had seen her was when I was pregnant with T and S was only 6 months old! Krystal was only here for a short visit but we had fun taking her to a few local places and shopping at Hobby Lobby.

This month my mom, Grandma, will be coming to visit. Then at the end of June we are going to have a visit from Nana, Papa, Aunt Amie, and the boys’ cousins, J, C, and K. We are so excited!

I’ve got one more collage for you.

April brought sun, and fun. It also brought us Easter. A day to celebrate the Lord’s resurrection. This year we did an Easter egg hunt that included eggs with treasures that told of the story of the cross. The boys and I watched the Resurrection story on their tablets. We talked about how Jesus had to die on the cross because we do bad things and if He didn’t die on the cross we wouldn’t be able to go to Heaven to be with God someday when we die. We also talked about how amazing it is that Jesus rose from the dead. Unfortunately the resurrection part got lost in the two 3 year olds’ brains. They are used to their favorite superheroes coming right back to life after dying in things like the Lego games. Oh well. At least they got the concept of their bad things keeping them apart from God and Jesus being the only bridge back to Him. T got that really well.

A lot can happen in 6 months! What have you been up to? How has life been treating you?
